What you need
strawberries, chocolate chips, and parchment/wax paper(optional: sprinkles)
What you do
Use a double boiler to melt chocolate chips (I think I used 5 oz for covering 16 strawberries). Dip the strawberries into the melted chocolate and place them on parchment or wax paper.
Let them sit until the chocolate solidifies, then drizzle or sprinkle toppings as desired.
Lab notes
I made these on Valentine’s Day this year, so this is a very belated post! Anyway, it was my first time making chocolate-covered strawberries, and the only little challenge was that the leaves kept falling off when I tried to dip them by holding the leaves. Some of the leaves ended up missing😭 so using a toothpick to hold them would have been a better idea.
Back where I used to live, we didn’t usually make chocolate-covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day—pavé chocolate was more common. That got me curious about where the combination of strawberries and chocolate comes from. Turns out, strawberries symbolize love, and so does chocolate.
About the taste, I found that the strawberries themselves were not very sweet, so they made a great combo. Still, it was a bit too sweet for me though😉
